Christmas Decorations

Tuesday 26th November

A very busy and fun morning spent making Caldicott look a little bit like Christmas!

Halloween Bonfire Night 2019

Saturday 2nd November

Our luck with the weather ran out for this year’s bonfire celebrations. But nothing it seems can stop Caldicott family and friends from joining in the fun of a Day of the Dead themed halloween party! The hall was fully decorated with fairy lights, sugar skull characters and halloween wares. Candy floss and fully stocked bar at the ready, we welcomed a packed hall of revellers to join in the celebrations.

This year we were joined by the fantastic entertainment of Stilt Walkers, Fire Eaters and Angle Grinders who all provided a great show before the main event. The bonfire took hold and warmed everyone up ready for the usual ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ that accompany the firework display.

The school kitchen once again provided the Hot dogs which flew off the warmer, and the usual delicious chilli. The brand new Pick 'n' mix 'cage' was a real hit, and almost completely empty by the end of the night. Puddings were cups of warm brownies or doughnuts with all manner of toppings including homemade chocolate or toffee sauce. I think it’s safe to say nobody went home hungry!

Thanks to everyone for joining us.

Thursday 19th September

We were so lucky to have a fabulous warm evening for the New Parents Supper this year, so we headed out onto the red steps of the Centenary Hall to welcome our lovely guests whilst the sun set over the stunning grounds. It was particularly nice to be able to see and hear some of the boarders enjoying the last of the summer sun outside. Some parents even managed a quick ‘hello’!

The Friends of Caldicott ensured the Centenary Hall was transformed into a friendly and relaxed space for drinks and dinner. As ever each table was hosted by a member of staff and a Friend of Caldicott, and the hall was soon a buzz of friendly chatter and laughter. We were also extremely lucky to be enjoying some delicious Champagne, red and white wine kindly donated by a new Caldicott family.

A delicious dinner had been prepared by the dining staff here at school. After the main course Mr. Banks gave his speech outlining the Caldicott vision of Treasuring Tradition and Cherishing Childhood with a view to treating each boy as an individual to maximise their experience at school.

This year we decided that dessert could be a more informal arrangement and to encourage everyone to move around, guests were invited to collect their own pudding and choose where to sit and eat. The evening was a great success and needed gentle encouragement to come to a conclusion (quietly so as not to wake the boarding boys!).

We are really looking forward to seeing all of our new families at the events throughout the year.
